Soon is a time capsule vase that combines analog sensibility and digital technology to preserve memories.

‘soon’은 추억을 보관하는 방법을 아날로그 감성과 디지털 기술의 조화로 풀어낸 ‘타임캡슐 꽃병’입니다.

Background

In order to remember your own precious memories, we would like to miniaturize the analog emotional act of asking for time capsules using digital technology, and from now on, we would like to present the experience of taking them out at any time close by through the time capsule vase "Soon"

자신만의 소중한 기억을 추억하기 위해서 타임캡슐을 묻는 아날로그적인 감성의 행위를 디지털 기술을 활용해 소형화하여, 이제부터 가까운 곳에서 언제든 간편히 꺼내어 볼 수 있는 경험을 타임캡슐 꽃병인 ‘Soon’을 통해서 선물하고자 합니다.

Naming

With the word "Coming soon" as the motif, I named it "SOON" to mean that "the memories will be missed someday and will be released again."

‘Coming soon’ 이라는 단어를 모티브로 “추억은 언젠가 그리워지고 그때 다시 개봉박두 한다”라는 의미로 사용하기 위해서 ‘SOON’으로 네이밍 했습니다.

Solution

We often take pictures, videos, and souvenirs to remember our precious memories. However, if you keep the memory media left as objects once and do not check them often, it becomes a burden and difficult to manage, and there is a risk of loss while forgetting the location. Through this project, we would like to present the experience of using time capsules to people to remember their precious memories through the time capsule vase "Soon" that can be miniaturized and stored conveniently using digital technology.

우리는 소중한 추억을 기억하기 위해서 사진, 동영상, 기념품 등으로 남기곤 합니다. 하지만 오브제로 남겨진 추억 매체들을 한번 보관한 뒤 자주 확인하지 않는다면 오히려 짐이 되어 관리가 힘들어지며, 위치도 잊고 생활하다가 분실의 위험도 생깁니다. 이 프로젝트를 통해 사람들에게 자신만의 소중한 기억을 추억하기 위해서 타임캡슐을 사용하던 감성의 행위를 디지털 기술을 활용해 소형화해서 편리하게 보관할 수 있는 경험을 타임캡슐 꽃병인 ‘Soon’을 통해서 선물하고자 합니다.

In order to express the experience of burying a time capsule in the ground next to the tree, we interpreted "tree" as "flower" and studied design elements based on the motif of the sentence "time capsule that can be buried under the flower." It expresses a static and calm atmosphere in the output, and the "delusion" of memory is expressed with blurred glass materials to set the atmosphere of "SOON."

나무 옆 땅속에 타임캡슐을 묻는 경험의 연장선을 표현하기 위해 '나무'를 ’꽃’으로 해석해서 “꽃 밑에 묻을 수 있는 타임캡슐”을 문장을 모티브로 기반하여 디자인 요소들을 리서치 했습니다. 아웃풋에 정적이며 차분한 분위기가 느껴지도록 표현하며, 기억의 ‘망각’을 흐릿한 유리 소재로 표현하여 “SOON”의 분위기를 잡았습니다.
